Did Yorke address any of these points, I wonder...

1) For what purpose and to what end?
2) How does government spend the money?
3) Do we care about individual liberty and equality here, or are the taxes simply a stick with which to beat those pesky plebians who don't understand how urgent the current environmental situation is?

I wholeheartedly agree with Renegade Conservatory Guy http://renegadeconservatoryguy.co.uk/get-behind-the-5-vat-on-energy-rated-windows-campaign/, there are ways of providing (dis-)incentives, I just have some concerns over where we are going when we talk generically about green taxes.

There's definitely a risk of us all talking ourselves into taxes as the only solution, when the carrot might work better.
