Here's Alex, a retired business manager. He loves his new water butt and he reckons he's saving 600 quid on his usual energy bills now he's moved into a new so-called 'eco' development called Fusion in Woking. Will housebuilders follow the lead of developer Linden and go green to make their customers happy?
There's obviously plenty of momentum for housebuilders to act with the government's zero carbon target set for 2016. But right now? Demand is sky high and whlist buyers claim in surveys they will buy eco-friendly houses in reality they probably still plump for the best price in the best location. But perhaps Linden is showing the way in highlighting how housebuilders can really sell sustainable, by stressing the savings to your pocket rather than a path to righteousness.
